After completing a Bachelor’s degree in French Literature Mick spent 11 years in France where he plunged headlong into the complex and compelling universe of French wine, cuisine and linguistics. In 1995 he returned to the San Francisco Bay Area as a dual French-American national. He promptly pursued a career in the wine industry, drawing critical experience first in retail wine sales followed by a stint as fine-wine specialist for a major California wholesaler and finally as Area Manager for Northern California for the acclaimed champagne house of Louis Roederer for over a decade.
In the spring of 2011 Mick launched the well-received industry blog under the banner, SlaveToTheGrape with a focus on highly-researched and stylistically-penned articles spotlighting the world’s great wine regions as well as a recent series of interviews with key wine personalities in the bay area and beyond. In addition, he recently joined the teaching ranks of the San Francisco Wine School founded by Master Sommelier and Certified Wine Educator, David Glancy as a French Wine Scholar. Under the auspices of San Francisco Wine School Mick was also a lead instructor in a series of seminars aimed at advancing the professional wine skills of a northern California team of Whole Foods markets.
